Khawar has more than 35 years of experience in gas turbine combustion, including senior technical and leadership roles within ABB, Siemens, ALSTOM and GE, where he has led major technology and product development programmes. His experience spans gas turbines from 5 MW to 500+ MW, low-emissions conventional and reheat combustion, and fuel-flexible and multi-fuel combustion systems.

He has deep expertise in combustion physics and modelling and is skilled in combining these with experimental methods to develop innovative and practical solutions to complex challenges. Through his industry roles and visiting professorships, he has defined and guided fundamental and applied research, mentored researchers and engineers, and translated research into product development.
